Here we are on the first travelling morning at Warkworth which is about an hour north of Auckland .
After catching the ferry from Waiheke (sick bags issued - need I say more?) yesterday, we picked up the hire car (Nissan Pulsar) and easily found our way out of Auckland on the Northern Highway.
We found a really good motel, cheap, clean and with a swimming pool (which I used last night). We had a walk round town, found the RSA (Retired Servicemen's Assoc), which had the cheapest beer in town, ate pizza at a tiny restaurant and shopped for our picnic food. We had an early night and slept till 8 this morning ( really comfy bed) and are now in the Public Library as there doesn't seem to be wireless access anywhere in Warkworth. This may be common in the smaller towns.
It rained overnight and is overcast this morning. We're now on our way North to Waitangi via Whangerei and we'll find the next Internet access to make our report.

I know I'm late leaving comments, just back from Tassy! You don't mention visiting the museum in Warkworth (probably not enough time). There they have an enormous Kauri tree. Cute museum too!
