Tuesday 22 January

Today we move back onto the North Island, pick up the car and start our tour. It's going to be an interesting crossing this afternoon as we're suffering the end of a cyclone which blew all night. The rain fell almost continuously yesterday so at least the water tank should have been recharged. It was so wild even Al couldn't go to work, so we watched videos and generally had a lazy day. I'm sure the next few weeks won't be as lazy - we made a rough guide and it'll be "interesting" to say the least. We've had to cut down the places to visit as the time needed to get from one place to another is greater than it looks - the roads are all so winding.

So the cases are packed and we'll be extremely sad to say goodbye to Al and Jenness although
before we fly to Sydney, we'll be meeting up with them in Auckland to return the items we're borrowing while we're touring,

We've been in touch with Cheryl in Sydney so have our first few days there organised and Tom's booked the train from Adelaide - Perth and homeward flights to UK (boo!!) (We had to do that or the Aussies wouldn't let us in!) The bit in the middle will be the next big thing to sort out. Thank goodness we're not going to be up in Queensland with all the flooding there. We see in the news that there are more floods in UK - hope none of you are involved.

I don't know when we'll be able to add the next blog but most places have internet connections so you won't have to wait too long for news!

Message to Judy - your travel kits are proving very useful, thanks.
" " Carole - my nails are continuing to improve, thank goodness. Is the house still standing?
" " CATAC - I'm not missing work at all!
" " Lorna - see you at the beginning of March for a couple of days. Hope you and Brian manage to get away for a break before then.

Love to all.
